‘You can make a difference’ – Caitlyn Jenner’s emotional speech at Glamour Woman of the Year Awards

Last night, Caitlyn Jenner gave the most MOVING speech after she received the Transgender Champion Award at the Glamour Woman of the Year Awards in Carnegie Hall, New York.

The important award, which was last year awarded to Orange is the New Black’s Laverne Cox, celebrated Caitlyn’s gender transition early this year, when she bravely introduced herself to the world as a woman in THAT ‘Call Me Caitlyn’ Vanity Fair cover.

The glamorous reality star and former Olympian wore a plunging royal blue gown for the occasion, which had a fishtail skirt. She paired the look with pointy black heels, diamond earrings and a chic updo.

She was joined on the red carpet by stars such as Victoria Beckham, Reese Witherspoon and Lupita Nyong’o, in addition to US Glamour editor-in-chief Cindi Leive.

As the audience rang out in applause, Caitlyn took the stage to deliver her winning speech. She said: ‘When it comes to gender, everyone in this room is on a journey. We are constantly learning, growing as human beings, learning about ourselves. But there’s a segment of this population that when it comes to gender, there is mass confusion deep down inside.’

Speaking of her own difficult experience of facing up to her gender identity, Caitlyn added: I’ve had many, many, many years of isolation of hiding from the world, lying to the world, of not being myself.’

She finished with the wise words: ‘To be authentic to myself about who I am and in doing that, maybe you can make a difference in the world.’

We’re amazed by your courage, Caitlyn! You’re an inspiration to us all.
