There was confusion at Ilesa Garage area of Osogbo, the Osun State capital, on Tuesday following the electrocution of a father of five identified simply as Moshood also known as Majoko.

Our correspondent gathered that Majoko was called by residents of the area to help repair the fault on the electric pole when there was power outage.

Majoko, who was a refrigerator repairer was already fixing the fault when electricity was restored and he was electrocuted.

The panic stricken residents were said to have raised the alarm and they eventually brought him down from the pole.

The man was said to have been taken to a nearby hospital where he was certified dead on arrival.

The death was said to have thrown the community into grief and panic. A resident of the area, Adewale Oke, said the deceased left five children and a wife behind.

He said, “The man left five children and a wife. It is a pity, Majoko has been assisting the people to fix faults but it was unfortunate he was electrocuted.”

Osun Regional Communication Officer of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company, Kikelomo Owoeye, when contacted, described the death as unfortunate.

She said the company had been educating its consumers to always report any fault to the office for attention.

She said, “It is quite unfortunate that a life was lost in the incident but we always sensitise our customers to desist from illegal connection, illegal reconnection, energy theft and its likes to avoid any casualty such as this.

“In order to avoid any casualty, consumers should endeavour to report faults or any complain to IBEDC office. They should forward their complaints to the Regional Office if they are not satisfied. We are partners in progress. We don’t pray for casualty but we implore our customers to avoid such on their part.”
