Conflict is an integral part of any political environment –Tinubu

A national Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Ahmed Bola Tinubu had days before the end of the National Assembly crisis paid a visit to President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa where he reflected on the crisis.

How would you react to the leadership crisis in the National Assembly?

That is an area where I am very very cautious of my position and my utterances; I still want to keep my side of interpretation and analysis to myself to be able to achieve a resolution of the matter as quickly as possible.

I am backing what the President has carefully enumerated and articulated to the party, the party is supreme. The party must have disciplined leadership and followers, the party’s process must be respected because that is the confidence and the trust of the people.

However, in every political environment, you expect conflict, that is politics and conflict resolution mechanism will be applied to resolve all problems, we are there, there is honour in every struggle, in every competition, there must be honour in victory too. I will stop there for now.

How prepared is APC to ensure that it would not make the mistakes of PDP in this administration?

We are different, we cannot be PDP, we are APC, we will not repeat their mistakes, we know their mistakes, we know their errors and we understand what Nigerians wanted; Nigerians gave this party a mandate because of our manifesto. We are pro-people, we are progressives, we have had a conservative government in the last 16 years, this is a progressive party just coming barely 30 days, we understand the hope of Nigerians and we respect that hope, we understand the expectations of Nigerians. We believe in that expectation and in our promise, with prosperity to God, we will not change that.

There is already this fear that you have a soiled relationship with the President because some of your demands are not being met by the party, how true is that?

I have no demand on the party, if you understand what party politics is all about, what leadership is all about, it is about loyalty and commitment to the values that leadership believes in. I believes in what President believes, I respect him and I stand firmly loyal to his cause. So you can go to any length of speculation that you might want, I have not responded to all of that, I understand the President and the President understands me clearly.
