Chief Magistrate Omolola Akindele gave this order after the accused pleaded not guilty to the offence.
Akindele ordered the prosecution to ascertain the condition of the complainant and also to find out the degree of injuries done on him.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the accused was arraigned on a one-count charge of causing grievous hurt.
Prosecutor Pascal Njoku informed the court that Nazifi Mohammed lodge the complaint against the accused at the Karu Police Station on July 24.
Njoku said that the accused sometimes in March stabbed the complainant over disagreement on payment for N13,000 worth of meat he sold in the market.
He said the complainant sustained serious injuries and was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment.
The prosecutor said that the accused confessed to the crime during police investigation.
He said the offence contravened Section 241 of the Penal Code.
The case was adjourned till July 29, for hearing of the bail application. (NAN)
