On his second day as Prime Minister Sherif Ismail designated a five day holiday to celebrate Eid Al-Adha for government workers as well as civil servants.
The holiday will begin on Wednesday 23 September and end will end on Sunday 27 September.
The cabinet's spokesman Hossam El-Kawish announced on Sunday that the decision also includes a four day holiday for public sector and business sector workers from Wednesday until Saturday.
Eid Al-Adha, which lasts for four days, is the largest religious holidays celebrated by Muslims worldwide each year during Hajj season. The celebration honours the willingness of the Prophet Abraham to sacrifice his son Ismael at God's will.
