Kidnappers demand N100 million for Falae’s release

The abductors of a chieftain of Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, Olu Falae, have demanded payment of N100 million ransom for his release, giving Tuesday as deadline for payment.

Mr. Falae, who is also the national chairman of Social Democratic Party, was abducted at his Ilado Farm along Igbatoro Road, Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State on Monday.

The spokesman of SDP in Ondo State, Remi Olayiwole, told PREMIUM TIMES on phone that the gunmen stormed the farm at about 2pm on Monday shooting sporadically in the air.
“They met him in his farm at Ilado and were shooting before taking him away,” Mr. Olayiwole said.
He said the kidnappers later called his wife and told her that a ransom of N100 million must be paid before his release on or before tomorrow, Tuesday.
“His wife received a phone call from the kidnappers later, and a voice was heard telling the family to bring N100 million before the end of tomorrow (Tuesday) before he will be released,” Mr. Olayiwole said.
Ondo State Police Spokesman, Wole Ogodo, declined comment on the matter, saying he needed some time to put the facts of the matter together.
