Robbery Suspect Blames Alcohol In-Take For His Action

Unlike the average armed robbery suspect that blamed satan for his action, Michael Ogedengbe, a suspected armed robber who allegedly specialise in robbing motorists, who was arrested by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad of Lagos State Police Command blamed in-take of alcoholic drinks for his involvement in robbery.

Ogedengbe was arrested on September 24th, 2015, at about 7:30 pm, around Surulere area of the state.

The 30 -year old suspect was arrested by the RRS operatives, after he attacked some innocent members of the public.

He had successfully smashed the side screen of a victim’s vehicle and robbed him of his handset, laptop and other valuables before he was arrested.

One of his victims, Emmanuel Ugwunne, who was attacked inside his Honda Accord Saloon car with registration number, AGL 41 DC, raised the alarm that aroused the attention of the RRS operatives.

According to the RRS Commander, Olatunji Disu, an Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP “The Policemen while on patrol duty, saw the man, Emmanuel Ugwunne, crying for assistance after the suspect had damaged the windscreen and side glass of his car to steal the valuable items.”

On his arrival at the headquarters, the suspect, who confessed to the crime, said that he was under the influence of alcohol.

The suspect said that. “It is true that I damaged the windscreen and side glass of his car and stole his handset and laptop. I didn’t do it ordinarily. It was because I just took some bottles of alcoholic drinks and liquor. I beg for forgiveness. Devil put me into the act”

The RRS Commander said that Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, is totally committed to free the state from any form of crime within the metropolis.

“The State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, is giving the Police Command all necessary supports, and the Commissioner of Police, CP Fatai Owoseni, has charged all the Policemen in the state to ensure that Lagos is free from all forms of crime and robbery acts during and after ember months”, the Commander added.

The Suspect, he said has been transferred to the Special Anti Robbery Squad SARS, of the Lagos state police command for further investigation.
