Aregbesola’s Impeachment: Osun Assembly Summons Justice Oloyede on Tuesday

The investigative committee probing the impeachment process demanded by Justice Folahanmi Oloyede has summoned the petitioner to appear before the committee on Tuesday, July 28, 2015.

The committee in a statement issued by the Press Secretary to the Speaker, Goke Butikakuro, said that the Chairman of the committee who doubles as Deputy Speaker, Hon. Adegboye Akintunde, asked the petitioner to appear before the committee on Tuesday this week to substantiate the claim.

It would be recalled that Justice Oloyede had petitioned the State Parliament to commence process of impeachment of Governor Rauf Aregbesola and his deputy, Mrs. Grace Titilayo Laoue-Tomori, for inability to pay workers salaries for seven months.

The petitioner noted that the inability of the government in the state to pay workers salaries as at and when due is unconstitutional.

“The panel in a letter signed by Akintunde asked Justice Oloyede to appear before the panel with her evidential proofs to substantiate the allegations raised in her petitions.

The letter reads: “…you are to appear before the panel constituted by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Najeem Salaam saddled with the responsibility to investigate the allegations raised your petition, and you are enjoined to appear with your evidences to substantiate the allegations.”

The letter also disclosed that no form of fanfare, pro or anti-protesters would be tolerated within the premises of state parliament, asserting that no trouble makers would be allowed to disrupt the peace of the state.
